Chap. 1018.—An ACT for the relief of S. H. Coleman, Sr., a disabled Confed-
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas 8. Il. Coleman, senior, a Confederate soldier of company
—__—___————., Was a true and gallant soldier during the late war,
was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he was injured by the explosion of a caisson near Harrison-
burg, Virginia, on the ————— day of ————————, eighteen hundred
and sixty-———-; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disabilities as a result
of the said injury—to wit: The total loss of one eye, and the almost
complete loss of hearing; and
Whereas the said 8S. II. Coleman, senior, is old and destitute and
unable to support hinself; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That if the
hustings court of the city of Roanoke shall examine into the condition
of the said S. H. Coleman, senior, a Confederate soldier, and should it. he
that he was true and Joyal to Virginia during the late war, and that he is
now afflicted and helpless from the injury above stated and incapacitated
for manual labor, and that he is needy and poor and should receive aid
from Virginia; and if the hustings court of the city of Roanoke should
send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of publie accounts of Vir-
ginia, then the auditor of public accounts shall place the name of S. Jl.
Coleman, senior, upon the pension list, and pay him annually the sum
of ———————_ do ars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
