CHAPTER 24
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
28.1-227, relating to the authority of the Potomac River Fisheries
Commission to regulate the dredging of soft shell clams. et

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
28.1-227, as follows:
€ 28.1-227. The Potomac River Fisheries Commission shall have the
power to make, adopt and publish such rules and regulations as may be
necessary or desirable for authorizing and regulating the dredging of soft
shell clams in areas within its geographical jurisdiction and may levy license
fees for such dredging in amounts to be set in its discretion.
The provisions of this section shall not take effect until a similar act
becomes effective in the State of Maryland, whereupon the Governor of
Virginia shall issue a proclamation declaring the provisions of this section
to be effective.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
