An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding sections numbered
82-358.82 and 32-858.88, relating to reporting to the State Registrar
of Vital Statistics of adoptions and divorces, respectively, and to
repeal §§ 68-859 and 20-128 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the
same matters.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding sections numbered
32-353.32 and 32-353.33 as follows:
§ 32-353.32. (a) For each adoption decreed by any court in this
State, the court shall require the preparation of a report of adoption on a
form prescribed and furnished by the State Registrar of Vital Statistics.
The report shall include such facts as are necessary to locate and identify
the original certificate of birth of the person adopted; provide information
necessary to establish a new certificate of birth of the person adopted;
and shall identify the order of adoption and be certified by the clerk of
co
(b) Information in the possession of the petitioner necessary to pre-
pare the adoption report shall be furnished with the petition for adoption
y each petitioner for adoption or by his attorney. In all cases where a
child is placed for adoption by a child placing agency, the report shall be
completed and filed with the court by a representative of the agency.
(c) On or before the tenth day of each month, the clerk of such court
shall forward to the State Registrar of Vital Statistics all records of
decrees of adoption entered in the preceding calendar month, together with
such related reports as the State Registrar of Vital Statistics may require.
(d) When the State Registrar of Vital Statistics shall receive a
record of adoption from a court for a person born outside this State, such
record shall be forwarded to the appropriate registration authority in the
state of birth.
(e) There shall be allowed to the clerk of court a fee of twenty-five
cents for each adoption so reported, to be paid by the petitioner as part
of the court costs.
§ 82-353.33. (a) For each final decree of divorce or annulment of
marriage granted by any court in this State a report shall be certified and
filed by the clerk of court with the State Registrar of Vital Statistics.
The information necessary to prepare the report shall be furnished, with
the petition or when filing the decree, to the clerk of court by the peti-
tioner or his attorney on forms prescribed and furnished by the State
Registrar of Vital Statistics.
(b) On or before the tenth day of each month the clerk of court shall
forward to the State Registrar of Vital Statistics the report of each final
decree of divorce and annulment granted during the preceding calendar
month and such related reports as the State Registrar of Vital Statistics
may require.
(c) There shall be allowed to the clerk of court a fee of twenty-five
cents for each divorce or annulment so reported, to be paid by the peti-
tioner as part of the court costs.
2. That § 20-123 and § 63-359 of the Code of Virginia are repealed.
