CHAPTER 89

An Act to amend and reenact § 22-29 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to the Superintendent of Public Instruction. CH 387]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
os That § 22-29 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as

ollows:

§ 22-29. The Superintendent of Public Instruction, ex officio, shall
be a member of all the governing bodies of all of the educational institu-
tions receiving appropriations from the State, of whatever kind or class,
except of those educational institutions for which the State Board is the
governing board. The Superintendent shall attend such meetings of the
governing boards of which he is an ex officio member as he may deem
necessary, or he may designate a member of the State Board to serve as
his alternate at any meeting of any such governing boards. The member
so designated shall exercise all the powers and duties conferred upon the
Superintendent while acting as his alternate.
