An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Chapter 9 of Title 28
an article numbered 7, containing sections numbered 28-91.9 through
28-91.12, so as to establish a division of the University of Virginia in
Accomack County, Virginia, to be known as the Eastern Shore Branch
of the School of General Studies, and to prescribe the terms and con-
ditions incident to the establishment of such branch college. CH 81}

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding in Chapter 9 of
Title 23 an article numbered 7, containing sections numbered 23-91.9
through 23-91.12, as follows:

§ 23-91.9. There is hereby established a division of the University
of Virginia in Accomack County, Virginia, to be known as the Eastern
Shore Branch of the School of General Studies, which is hereby declared
to be an integral part of the University of Virginia and which shall be
subject to the supervision, management and control of the Rector and
Visitors of the University of Virginia.
§ 23-91.10. All property, property rights, duties, contracts and
agreements of the said division are vested in the Rector and Visitors of
the University of Virginia. The President of the University of Virginia
by virtue of his office shall be the principal administrative officer of such
division. The Board of Visitors of the University is charged with the
care and preservation of all property belonging to such division. With
respect to such division the Board of Visitors shall have the same powers
as to granting degrees, as to fixing tuitions, fees, and other charges, as
to borrowing money and issuing bonds, as to the appointment and removal
of administrative officers, professors, agents and servants, and the making
of rules and regulations, as are now vested in them with respect to the
University. The title of the chief local administrative officer of such divi-
sion shall be fixed by the Board of Visitors.
§ 23-91.11. Appropriations, directly or indirectly, from the State to
such division shall be expended as directed by the Rector and Visitors of
the University of Virginia.
§ 23-91.12. All acts and proceedings heretofore taken by the Rector
and Visitors of the University of Virginia with respect to the establish-
ment and maintenance of the Eastern Shore Branch of the School of
General Studies in Accomack County, Virginia, including all contracts,
loan agreements and other agreements of whatsoever nature, are hereby
ratified, validated and confirmed
