An Act to authorize the governing bodies of certain counties to adopt
certain ordinances imposing license taxes upon persons selling or
furnishing minnows to others and to provide penalties for violations.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. The governing body of any county having a population of more
than thirty-eight thousand but less than forty thousand may adopt or-
dinances providing that it shall be unlawful for any person, resident or
nonresident, to sell or furnish minnows to any other person in such
county ar compensation, without first obtaining a license as hereinafter
provided:
(a) The annual license fee for resident individuals shall not exceed
five dollars per year.
(b) The annual license fee for nonresident individuals shall be twenty-
five dollars; provided, however, that if such nonresident individual is a
resident of a state having a similar requirement for nonresident individuals
and the annual fee therefor exceeds twenty-five dollars, then the non-
resident license fee charged such person shall be the same as the annual
nonresident fee charged by such state or such lesser or greater amount
as such governing body deems proper. |
Such ordinance may provide that any person violating the provisions
thereof shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished as provided by law.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
