An Act to amend and reenact § $8.1-602 and § $8.1-606 of the Code of Vtr-
ginia, relating to benefits on the lives of children by fraternal benefit
societies and to termination of juvenile certificates. ‘S$ 328

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 38.1-602 and § 38.1-606 of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
38.1-602. Any fraternal benefit society authorized to do business
in this State may provide in its laws, in addition to other benefits provided
for therein, for the payment of death or annuity benefits not to exceed
two thousand dollars upon the lives of children * under the minimum age
for adult membership but not greater than twenty-one years of age at
time of application therefor, upon application of some adult * member, as
the laws of such society may provide, upon whom such minor child is
principally dependent for support and maintenance. Any such society may,
at its option, organize and operate branches for such children and mem-
bership in local lodges and initiation therein shall not be required of such
children nor shall they have any voice in the management of the society. *
§ 38.1-606. If the child be not admitted to benefit membership, the
juvenile certificate shall terminate upon the child’s reaching age * twenty-
one, or any younger age fixed by the laws of the society as the maximum
age at death for the payment of juvenile benefits.
