CHAPTER 164

An Act to amend and reenact §§ 23-91.5, 23-91.6 and 28-91.7 of the Code
of Virginia, relating to the Patrick Henry Division of the University
of Virginia.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That §§ 23-91.5, 23-91.6 and 23-91.7 of the Code of Virginia be
amended and reenacted, as follows:

§ 23-91.5. * The Patrick Henry Branch of the School of General
Studies, heretofore established as a division of the University of Vir-
ginia in Martinsville, Virginia, * shall hereafter be known as the Patrick
Henry * College of the University of Virginia, which is hereby declared
to be an integral part of the University of Virginia and which shall be
subject to the supervision, management and control of the Rector and
Visitors of the University of Virginia.

§ 23-91.6. All property, property rights, duties, contracts and
agreements of * the Patrick Henry College of the University of Virginia
are vested in the Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia. The
president of the University of Virginia by virtue of his office shall be
the principal administrative officer of * the Patrick Henry College of
the University of Virginia. The board of visitors of the University is
charged with the care and preservation of all property belonging to *
the Patrick Henry College of the University of Virginia. With respect
to * the Patrick Henry College of the University of Virginia the board
of visitors shall have the same powers as to granting degrees, as to
fixing tuitions, fees, and other charges, as to borrowing money and
issuing bonds, as to the appointment and removal of administrative of-
ficers, professors, agents and servants, and the making of rules and
regulations as are now vested in them with respect to the University.
The title of the chief local administrative officer of * the Patrick Henry
College of the University of Virginia shall be fixed by the board of visitors.

§ 23-91.7. Appropriations, directly or indirectly, from the State
to * the Patrick Henry College of the University of Virginia shall be
expended as directed by the Rector and Visitors of the University of
Virginia.
