CHAPTER 140

An Act to amend and reenact § 58-87 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
termination of penal sentences, the final days of which fall on certain

days.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
a That § 53-37 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:

53-37. Whenever the term of any * prisoner within the Virginia
penal system shall expire on Saturday, Sunday or any legal holiday, the
Director shall have authority to discharge this * prisoner on the last
working day immediately preceding said Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
