An Act to amend and reenact §§ 45-26 as amended, 54-24, 54-98, 54-260.18,
54-295.7, 54-841, 54-3895, 54-898.12, 54-741 and 54-789 of the Code of
Virginia, relating to compensation allowed to members of certain
boards and to the use of the funds of such boards. 'S 158)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 45-26 as amended, 54-24, 54-98, 54-260.18, 54-295.7, 54-341,
54-895, 54-398.12, 54-741 and 54-789 of the Code of Virginia be amended
and reenacted as follows:
§ 45-26. Such Board shall meet at least once a year and shall be
called by the Chief to meet at such other times as the number of applica-
tions may justify. The Board shall meet at such place or places and at
such times as may be designated by the Chief, and the Board shall remain
in session until its work is completed, but no one session of the Board shall
continue more than three days. Out of the Examiners’ fund there shall be
paid to each member of the Board, except the Chief, who shall serve with-
out extra pay, his necessary expenses incurred in the service of the Board
and a per diem not to exceed * fifteen dollars for each day the Board is
in session.
§ 54-24. The members of the Board shall each receive as compensation
* fifteen dollars per diem for the time spent in attendance at meetings or
in conducting examinations, and shall be reimbursed the amount of actual
expenses incurred in the performance of their duties under this chapter.
The secretary of the Board shall receive such salary as may be named by
the Board, subject to the provisions of chapter 9 of Title 2. The compen-
sation for services and expenses herein provided, however, shall not exceed
the amount received as fees from applicants for certificates to practice
any of the professions included by this chapter.
§ 54-98. The members of the Board shall receive an amount not ex-
ceeding * fifteen dollars per day to each member, for the time actually
spent in the performance of their duties under this chapter, which as well
as their necessary traveling expenses and other expenses incident to
awarding certificate, et cetera, shall be paid out of the State treasury, from
funds not otherwise appropriated, on warrants drawn by the Comptroller,
on certificates issued by the chairman of the Board.
§ 54-260.13. Each member shall be reimbursed for his traveling ex-
penses and the necessary expense incident to his attendance upon the busi-
ness of the Board, and in addition thereto the sum of * fifteen dollars per
diem for each day actually spent by such member upon the business of
the Board. The secretary shall receive and be paid such annual salary as
may be fixed by the Board not to exceed thirty-six hundred dollars per
annum, the amount and method of payment of which shall be fixed by the
Board and in addition thereto the secretary shall receive his necessary
traveling and other expenses incurred in the performance of his necessary
duties and such specific allowance for office assistance and other necessary
expenses incident to the proper conduct of his office as the Board shall
approve. All such expenses, per diem, and the compensation shall be paid
out of the receipts of the Board under the provisions of this chapter and
shall in no manner be an expense to the State.
§ 54-295.7. The members of the Committee shall receive compensa-
tion at the rate of * fifteen dollars for each day of their services, and shall
be reimbursed for necessary expenses incurred in the discharge of their
duties. The treasurer of the Board shall maintain a separate account
showing the funds collected as fees from physical therapists and applicants
for registration as physical therapists. All expenses incurred by the Com-
mittee, including compensation and reimbursement to the members there-
of, shall be paid solely out of such funds.
§ 54-341. The members of the Board shall receive the sum of * fifteen
dollars for each day actually engaged in this service, and all legitimate and
necessary expenses incurred in attending the meetings of the Board.
§ 54-395. The funds realized from the aforesaid fees shall be applied
to the payment of all necessary expenses of the Board including a per
diem, of not more than * fifteen dollars, to each member and the necessary
expenses in traveling to and from the place of meeting, when the Board
is in session, or on the business of the Board, and the employment of attor-
neys to assist in prosecuting any or all violations of this chapter. All
per diem expenses, salaries, etc., to members of the Board shall be paid
from funds of the Board and shall in no manner be an expense to the
State. All moneys received in excess of the expenditures of the Board shall
be held by its treasurer as a special fund for meeting its expenses.
§ 54-898.12. The members of the Board shall receive no salary for
their services, but shall be paid a per diem of * fifteen dollars for each
day necessarily spent in the performance of their duties and shall be re-
mbursed for actual necessary expenses incurred in the discharge of such
uties.
§ 54-741. Each member of the Commission shall receive as full com-
pensation for each day actually spent on the work of the Commission the
sum of * fifteen dollars per day and his actual and necessary expenses
incurred in the performance of duties pertaining to his office.
§ 54-789. The fund realized from the fees aforesaid shall be applied by
the Board to the payment of its expenses, * making a reasonable com-
pensation to the president and secretary and to the payment to each mem-
ber of the Board fifteen dollars per diem as compensation for each day
actually spent in the service of the Board.
