An Act to amend and reenact § 15-666.29 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to initial resolution for bond issues by counties. rH 615)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. P That § 15-666.29 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 15-666.29. Whenever the governing body of any county shall de-
termine that it is advisable to contract a debt and issue general obligation
bonds of the county to finance any project, it shall adopt a resolution
(herein sometimes called the “initial resolution’’) setting forth
(a) In brief and general terms the purpose or purposes for which the
bonds are to be issued, and
The maximum amount of such bonds and, if bonds are to be
issued for more than one purpose, the maximum amount for each purpose;
provided, however, that with respect to bonds for school purposes a state-
ment of the maximum amount of each separate purpose is not required,
ind provided further that with respect to bonds for the purchase of land
for diversified public purposes, a statement of the maximum amount of
each separate purpose is not required. Such resolution shall request the
circuit court, or any judge thereof, to order an election upon the question
of contracting the debt and issuing the proposed bonds.
_ Prior to the adoption under the provisions of this section of a resolu-
tion by the governing body of any county requesting the ordering of an
election upon the question of contracting a debt and issuing bonds for
school purposes, the county board of education or school board of such
county shall first request, by resolution, such governing body to take such
action.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
