CHAPTER 370

An Act to amend and reenact § 15-25.1 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
the authority of counties and cities to provide additional compensation
for jurors.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

La That § 15-25.1 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:

§ 15-25.1. The governing body of any county or city may, by ordi-
nance duly adopted, provide for payment to every person summoned as
a juror for the circuit, corporation or other court of record of such county
or city out of funds of such locality, which payment shall be in addition
to the amounts provided in §§ 8-204 and *19.1-218; provided that no such
ordinance shall authorize payment of an amount which, when added to
such amount as may be otherwise provided by law for jurors, exceeds ten
dollars for each day’s attendance upon the court. Nothing herein con-
tained shall authorize the taxing as costs under § 14-111 of the Code of
Virginia of 1950 of the supplemental payment provided for herein.

2. This act shall become effective on July 1, 1960.
