CHAPTER 341
An Act to authorize the Governor and the State Hospital Board, on behalf
of the Commonwealth, to convey certain property of the Petersburg
Training School and Hospital to the College of William and Mary in
Virginia and to Frank J. Reiter and Lillian B. Retter, his wife.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: _
1. §1. The Governor of Virginia and the State Hospital Board are
hereby jointly authorized and empowered, on behalf of the Commonwealth
of Virginia, whenever in their judgment and uncontrolled discretion it 1s
fitting and proper so to do, to transfer and convey to the College of William
and Mary in Virginia, as a gift and without any consideration paid there-
for, all right, title and interest of the Commonwealth of Virginia and
the State Hospital Board in and to any part or all of that real estate with
improvements now being used by Petersburg Training School and Hos-
pital.
§ 2. The transfer and conveyance hereby authorized shall be by
proper deed or deeds, executed in the name of the Commonwealth of
Virginia by the Governor and the Secretary of the Commonwealth, under
the lesser seal of the Commonwealth, and in the name of the Petersburg
Training School and Hospital by the chairman of the State Hospital Board.
§ 38. The Governor and the State Hospital Board are hereby jointly
authorized and empowered to execute, in the name of the Commonwealth
and of the Petersburg State Training School and Hospital, respectively, a
deed in form approved by the Attorney General upon such terms and
conditions as to them shall seem proper, conveying to Frank J. Reiter and
Lillian B. Reiter, all of the right, title and interest of the Commonwealth
and the State Hospital Board in and to the following described property:
All that certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in Prince
George County, Virginia, and most particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a stone on the north line of a certain road, owned by
the United States Park Service, at its corner with the land of Frank J.
Reiter and Petersburg Training School and Hospital; thence north 17° 44’
east 517.51 feet to an iron rod; thence south 61° 58’ east 377.45 feet to a
stone on the northern line of the aforementioned road; thence south 56° 04’
west along the northern line of such road to the point and place of be-
ginning; said parcel of land containing 2.2 acres, more or less, and being
more particularly shown as tract number 5, on a certain map entitled:
“Map showing a tract of land situated Namozine District Dinwiddie
County, and Rives District Prince George County, Virginia owned by and
surveyed for Petersburg Training School and Hospital, Commonwealth of
Virginia, Department of Mental Hygiene and Hospitals.” Made in July
and August, nineteen hundred fifty-nine, by W. G. Chappell and on file in
the office of the State Hospital Board.
§ 4. This act shall not be construed to limit or otherwise affect the
power and authority conferred upon the Governor and the State Hospital
Board by any other law.
