An Act to amend and reenact § 1 of Chapter 481 of the Acts of Assembly
of 1895-96, approved February 24, 1896, relating to authorization of
sale of certain church property in the city of Richmond, and certain
funds in connection therewith.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 1 of Chapter 481 of the Acts of Assembly of 1895-96, approved
February 24, 1896, be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ Charles J. Sinton, Samuel Sinton and George C. Thomas, trustees
for said property (being the property referred to and described on pages
499 and 500 of the Acts of Assembly 1895-96) or any one of them, acting
with the consent of the others, be and they are hereby, authorized to sell
said property at private or public auction, and apply the proceeds as fol-
lows: One-half of the same to be invested in the name of W. B. Gay, J. T.
Johnson, E. F. Smith, Mistress E. D. Whitehead and J. C. Williams,
trustees, or their successors, to be used for the purchase or erection of a
church for the congregation of or persons attending the church known as the
first Unitarian church of the city of Richmond; the other half to be in-
vested in bonds of the State of Virginia in the name of the Universalist
general convention, a corporation, to be held until * The Universalist
Church of America, or its successors in interest, shall in its sole discretion
determine to use such funds for any church purposes.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
