AN ACT to amend and reenact § 19-108 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to recognizances in criminal cases.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
, That § 19-103 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:
§ 19-103. Recognizances in criminal cases, where the offense ts
charged to have been committed against the Commonwealth, shall be pay-
able to the Commonwealth of Virginia. Recognizances in criminal cases
where the offense charged is a violation of a county, city or town ordt-
nance, shall be payable to such county, city or town. Every recognizance
under this title shal] be in such sum as the court or officer requiring it may
direct. If it be to answer for a misdemeanor or if required of a witness
it shall be with or without security as the court or officer may direct; but
in all other cases shall be with security deemed sufficient by the court or
officer taking it.
