CHAPTER 512

An Act to amend Chapter 419 of the Acts of Assembly of 1986, approved
March 80, 1986, which provided the charter for the town of Altavista,
by adding thereto a section numbered 33, to provide for a separate
school district for the town of Altavista for representation only, and
to further provide for a town school board and appointment of mem-
bers thereto, and for designation of the town members on the county
school board.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That Chapter 419 of the Acts of Assembly of 1936, approved March
30, 1936, be amended by adding thereto a section numbered 33, as follows:

§ 33. The town of Altavista shall constitute a separate school dis-
trict for the purpose of representation on the county school board. The
town council may appoint a town school board of three members, the
members of which board shall be appointed for terms in accordance with
§ 22-89 of the Code of Virginia. The town school board as such shall have
no authority relative to the county schools, but one of its members shall be
designated annually during the month of December by the town school
board as a member of the county school board for the ensuing calendar
year.
