An Act to amend and reenact § 16.1-209 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to reports of court officials in juvenile cases. CH 122]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 16.1-209 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 16.1-209. All information obtained in discharge of official duties
by any * official or employee of the court shall be privileged, and shall not be
disclosed to anyone other than the judge unless and until otherwise ordered
by the judge or by the judge of a court of record; provided, however, that
in any case when such information shall disclose that an offense against
the criminal laws of the State has been committed, it shall be the duty of
the official or employee of the court obtaining such information to report
the same promptly to the Commonwealth’s Attorney or the police in the
county or city where the offense occurred.
