An Act to amend and reenact § 3-35 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
appointment and terms of office of the board of directors of the
Virginia truck experiment station. [H 395]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
Pi That § 3-35 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:
§ 3-35. The experiment station shall be under the control of a board
of directors consisting of five members. Two of the members shall be the
chairman of the board of control of the Virginia agricultural experiment
station at Blacksburg or some member from the board of control desig-
nated by the chairman, and the president of the Virginia Polytechnic
Institute, respectively, who shall be members ex officio, and the remaining
three members shall be appointed by the Governor subject to confirmation
by the senate. * The three members appointed by the Governor shall be
selected from the membership of the Association of Virginia Potato and
Vegetable Growers, Incorporated. * The terms of office of the appointive
members shall be four years or until their successors shall have been
appointed and qualified. The members of the board of directors shall serve
without compensation and shall name one of their members chairman. The
board shall also appoint a secretary, who may or may not be a member of
the board, and prescribe his duties. Each member of the board, however,
shall be entitled to be reimbursed for his actual expenses in attending
meetings of the board. Three members of the board shall constitute a
quorum for the transaction of business. The board shall hold at least one
meeting annually at the office of the Virginia truck experiment station, and
such other meetings as may be necessary shall be held at such times and
places as any three members of the board may designate.
