CHAPTER 264

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
15-25.1, to permit the governing bodies of counties or cities to provide
additional compensation for jurors. (H 452]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
15-25.1 as follows:

§ 15-25.1. The governing body of any county or city may, by ordi-
nance duly adopted, provide for payment to every person summoned as a
juror for the circuit, corporation or other court of record of such county or
city out of funds of such locality, which payment shall be in addition to the
amounts provided in §§ 8-204 and 19-193; provided that no such ordinance
shall authorize payment of an amount which, when added to such amount
as may be otherwise provided by law for jurors, exceeds ten dollars for each
day’s attendance upon the court. Nothing herein contained shall authorize
the taxing as costs under § 14-111 of the Code of Virginia of 1950 of the
supplemental payment provided for herein.
