AN ACT to amend and reenact § 22-166.8, as amended, of the Code of
Virginia relating to the Advisory Research Committee on plans and
specifications for school buildings. § 300]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 22-166.3, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 22-166.3. (a) There is hereby established an Advisory Research
Committee referred to as Committee.
(b) The Committee shall consist of * thirteen members, to be ap-
pointed by the Governor for terms of four years. One member when ap-
pointed shall be from each of the following: Senate of Virginia, House of
Delegates, State * Department of Education, Virginia Chapter, American
Institute of Architects, Virginia Branch, Associated General Contractors,
Virginia Society of Professional Engineers, Architectural Department of
Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Architectural Department of the University
of Virginia, a member of a local school board, and a division superintendent
of schools and three from the field of business and management.
(c) The members of the Committee shall receive * a per diem of ten
dollars for their services as members, * plus their expenses.
(d) The Committee shall assist the State Board by advising it as to the
efficiency of school construction with due regard to economy, operation,
maintenance, design, function, instructional facilities, as the same relate to
the safety and health of the school child. It shall also be the duty of the
Committee to advise the State Board in connection with the services
rendered by the Board under this article.
