An Act to name the bridge over the Rappahannock River, between Greys
Point and White Stone, The Robert Opie Norris, Jr. Bridge.

Whereas, there has recently been completed a bridge linking the
Northern Neck of Virginia and the Middle Peninsula; and oo ke
Whereas, where the completion of this vital link in the Virginia high-
way system is due in large measure to the untiring efforts of the former
senalor from the Twenty-ninth Senatorial District, Robert Opie Norris, Jr.;
an
Whereas, Robert Opie Norris, Jr., concluded nearly half a century
of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia when he retired from office
after the 1955 Extra Session of the General Assembly, having had longer
service in the Assembly than any man since the turn of the century, begin-
ning with his election to the House of Delegates in 1912 and ending with
his retirement in 1955; and
Whereas, it is fitting that Senator Norris’ service to the State and to
the communities which he so ably represented and his efforts in bringing
closer together the peoples of his area should be commemorated; now,
therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the bridge across the Rappahannock River between Greys Point
and the vicinity of White Stone is hereby designated The Robert Opie
Norris, Jr. Bridge.
