CHAPTER 544

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a new section numbered
24-129.1, relating to the payment of State poll taxes and the certifi-
cation of payment by the treasurer.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a new section num-
bered 24-129.1 as follows:

§ 24-129.1. Whenever any person offers to personally pay his State
poll tax which has been assessed or is assessable against him for any year,
the treasurer of his county or city to whom the offer of payment is made
shall accept such payment and certify the same as required by § 24-120,
although such poll tax has been previously paid by another person.

2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
