CHAPTER 424

An Act to amend and reenact § 2-40 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
the powers of the Governor. [H 720]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

7 That § 2-40 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:

§ 2-40. Whenever the Governor deems it necessary and proper, he
may require any such officer, superintendent, * board, State employee, or
any person to appear before him, and he may also require the production
of any official books, accounts, vouchers, and other papers relating to their
offices and duties. The Governor shall have the power to issue subpoenae
or other writs for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this section.
For the proper inspection of such records, vouchers, and other papers he
may employ acccuntants.

An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
