CHAPTER 42

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 15-27.1
so as to restrict the use of certain names. [8 B 25]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
15-27.1 as follows:

§ 15-27.1. The name “Mount Vernon” is reserved for the home and
tomb of the late General George Washington in Fairfax County. The Gen-
eral Assembly shall not grant to any county, city or town of the Common-
wealth the right to use the name “Mount Vernon’.
