An Act to amend and reenact § 82-1 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
appointment, terms and qualifications of State Board of H —_ 3

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
ah That § 32-1 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:
- § 82-1. The State Board of Health, in this chapter sometimes called
the Board, shall consist of seven members appointed by the Governor for
terms of seven years each, one such term to commence at the expiration of
the term of each present incumbent, and one such member to be appointed
each year. One member shall be chosen from each of the grand divisions of
the State, namely, Tidewater, Middle Virginia, Piedmont, the Valley, and
Southwest Virginia. Two members of the Board shall be members of the
Medical Society of Virginia, and one a member of the State Dental Associa-
tion. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner
as original appointments are made. .
The first vacancy occurring by death or resignation, after June nine-
tenth, nineteen hundred and forty-six, in a position on the Board filled by
a member from one of the grand divisions of the State shall be filled by the
appointment of a member of the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association, and
thereafter one member shall be a member of the Virginia Pharmaceutical
Association.
No person shall be appointed more than once to succeed himself as a
member of the Board; provided, that incumbency during the current term
when this amendment becomes effective, and appointments heretofore or
hereafter made to fill vacancies, shall not be considered in determining
eligibility hereunder.
