CHAPTER 382
An Act to amend and reenact § 24-845 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to penalties for aiding or abetting fraud in connection with elections.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. see § 24-845 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 24-845. Any person * who aids or abets or attempts to aid or
abet fraud in connection with any vote cast, or to be cast, under the pro-
visions of this chapter, shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to the peniten-
tiary for not less than one nor more than five years. .
Any person attempting to vote by fraudulently signing the name of
a regularly. qualified voter shall be guilty of forgery. - .
_ Any public official who knowingly violates any of the provisions of
this chapter, and thereby aids in any way the illegal casting, or attempting
to cast a vote, or who shall connive to nullify any provisions of this
chapter in order that fraud may be perpetrated, shall forever be dis-
qualified from holding office in the Commonwealth, and shall forever be
disqualified from exercising the right of franchise.
