An Act to prohibit removal, change or alteration of manufacturers’
serial or other identification numbers from certain household appli-
ances; to prohibit possession of such appliances for purposes of re-
sale when such number has been removed, changed or altered; and
to prescribe penalties for violation. [H 668]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
§ 1. No person, firm or corporation, either individually or in asso-
ciation with one or more other persons, firms or corporations shall remove,
change or alter the serial number or other identification number stamped
upon, cut into or attached as a permanent part of any household appliance
having a fair retail value of fifty dollars or more, where such number was
stamped upon, cut into or attached to such appliance by the manufacturer
ereof.
§ 2. No person, firm or corporation shall knowingly have in his or
its possession for purposes of resale a household appliance having a fair
retail value of fifty dollars or more, the serial number or other identifica-
tion number of which has been removed, changed or altered.
§ 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of
this act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished accordingly.
