An Act to amend and reenact §§ 68-867, 68-868 and 68-869, as amended,
of the Code of Virginia, relating to certain industrial schools and
corrective institutions.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: .
1. That §§ 63-367, 63-368 and 63-369, as amended, of the Code of Vir-
ginia be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 63-367. The Virginia Industrial School for Colored Girls, formerly
the Industrial Home School for Wayward Colored Girls, shall be after
February twenty, nineteen hundred fifty, known as the Janie Porter Bar-
rett School for Girls and is continued under the control of the Department.
The Governor and the State Board may sell the property of the school and
locate the school elsewhere if, in their judgment, the same shall be deemed
advisable ; provided, that the Commonwealth shall maintain the school
until the sale of the property, and that the proceeds of the sale shall be
reinvested in a school of like character. .
The Department is authorized to place at such school Negro giris who
have been committed to the State Board under § 16-172.44.
§ 63-368. The Virginia Industrial School for Boys shall be continued
as a separate State institution for the custody, care and training of incor-
rigible or delinquent white boys of the Commonwealth, and shall hereafter
known as Beaumont School for Boys, and shall be under the control of
the Department. Such institution shall be conducted for the purposes set
forth in the charter or act of incorporation of the Prison Association of
Virginia referred to in § 53-19, and it shall not be made a part of or
connected in any way with the penitentiary or any other penal institution
of the Commonwealth. The Department is authorized to place at such
school white boys who have been committed to the State Board under
§ 16-172.44.
§ 63-369. The Virginia Manual Labor School for Colored Boys shall
be continued under the control of the Department, and shall hereafter be
known as Hanover School for Boys. The Department is authorized to place
at such school Negro boys who have been committed to the State Board
under § 16-172.44.
