CHAPTER 278
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
62-8.1, authorizing the Governor, with the advice of the Attorney
General, to grant permission to use, or to convey, the subaqueous
soil of certain streams for certain purposes and to require certain
reports.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
62-3.1 as follows:
§ 62-3.1. The Governor, with the advice of the Attorney General,

is authorized to give the consent of the Commonwealth to the use of, or
to convey, the subaqueous soil in any stream adjoining Bedford and
Amherst Counties to which the Commonwealth has title when such use
or ownership is required for the construction of a bridge. Such consent
or conveyance shall protect the rights of the public to fish, fowl and take
shellfish and may be given or made only to the extent necessary for the
construction of such bridge.
