An Act to amend and reenact §§ 8, 4, 5 and 12, as amended, of Chapter
822 of the Acts of Assembly of 1899-1900, approved February 14,
1900, as amended, which incorporated the town of Stanley in Page
County, the sections, respectively, relating to the government of the
town, municipal officers generally, the election of the mayor and
council, and the terms of the mayor.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 3, 4, 5 and 12, as amended, of Chapter 322 of the Acts of
Assembly of 1899-1900, approved February 14, 1900, as amended, be
amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 3. The government of * said town * shall be vested in a * Town
Council, which shall be composed of the Mayor and five Councilmen, each
of whom shall be qualified voters within the said town.
The municipal officers of said town shall consist of five council-
men; * a mayor; a treasurer, and a sergeant; * which latter two are * to
be appointed by the said council.
The mayor and five members of council shall be elected by the
qualified voters on the second Tuesday in June, nineteen hundred * fifty-
seven, for * terms of two years, and every two years thereafter, and their
term of office shall begin on the first day of September, next ensuing, and
they shall hold office until their successors shall have qualified. *
§ 12. The mayor shall be * elected as hereinbefore provided for a
term of two years.
