CHAPTER 97

An Act to amend Chapter 578 of the Acts of Assembly of 1952, approved
April 8, 1952, which provided a new charter for the city of Danville,
by adding a section numbered 21 to Chapter II of said charter, which
section provides the method of fixing salaries of councilmen and
establishes their maximum annual salaries.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That Chapter 578 of the Acts of Assembly of 1952, approved April 3,
1952, be amended by adding a section numbered 21 to Chapter II thereof,
as follows:

§ 21. The salaries of the Mayor or president of the council, and the
councilmen of the city of Danville shall be fixed in accordance with the
provisions of §§ 15-448, 15-449, 15-450 and 15-451 of the Code of Vir-
ginia, provided that the salary of the Mayor, or president of the council
shall not exceed one hundred fifty dollars per month and the salary of
any councilman shall not exceed one hundred dollars per month.

2. This act shall become effective September 1, 1954. |
