CHAPTER 591
An Act to amend § 54-62.2 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the effec-
tive date of certain amendments to sections covering application for
examinations and issuance of licenses to practice law.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 54-62.2 of the Code of Virginia be amended as follows:
§ 54-62.2. The provisions of §§ 54-60, 54-61.1 and 54-62, as hereby
amended, shall be in effect on and after January one, nineteen hundred
fifty-four; provided, that * the right to take an examination shall not,
because of such amendments, be denied (a) to any applicant, otherwise
fully qualified, who on June twenty-seven, nineteen hundred fifty-two, was
engaged in the study of law in a manner then permitted under this
article, and who thereafter diligently and without interruption continued
such study until its completion, or (b) to any applicant eligible to take
the examination provided for under this article on December thirty-one,
nineteen hundred fifty-three *.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
