CHAPTER 418
An Act to require all gas burning heaters in all premises licensed for the
lodging, care or entertainment of the public to be of a certain ‘ype.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. All gas burning heaters used in any hotel, inn, house of entertainment,
or other house licensed and kept for the lodging, care, or entertainment of
the public in this State, the operation of which requires a State permit,
shall be so designed that all products of combustion are collected within
the heating unit, effectively vented to the outside air to a height two
feet above any obstruction within a radius of fifteen feet, equipped with an
approved down draft diverter and wind cap, an automatic safety pilot
and an automatic pilot device; provided that the requirements of this act
shall not be construed as debarring gas burning heaters equipped with
equally effective safety devices, all of which have the approval of nationally
recognized testing agencies for use in such establishments.
