An Act to amend and reenact § 8-58 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to how summons for witnesses or jurors may be served. H

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1 That § 8-58 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
follows:
§ 8-58. In addition to the mode of service above prescribed:
(1) a summons for a witness or for a juror may be served at his
or her usual place of business or employment during business hours, by
delivering a copy thereof and giving information of its purport to the
person found there in charge of such business or place of employment; or
(2) a summons for a juror may be served by mailing a copy of the
summons by registered mail, with registered delivery receipt requested,
to the person being served, at least seven days prior to the day he is
summoned to appear.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
a That § 28-103 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:
§ 28-103. Duty to inspect and collect tax; certificate.—It shall be the
duty of the oyster inspector in whose district a cargo of oysters is to be
loaded to inspect such oysters as they are loaded and to see that all
measurements are a full * measure of oysters as defined in § 28-188; and
when such oysters are loaded, to collect the tax cn same, and furnish the
owner, master, or operator with a certificate showing the number of
bushels, in each load, and signed by the inspector, deputy, or police boat
captain that the tax on each load is paid, a copy of which certificate shall
be sent to the office of the Commissioner of Fisheries.
If the seller fails to furnish a full measure as defined in § 28-188, he
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and be punished as provided by law.
