CHAPTER 170

An Act to authorize the conveyance of certain lands ceded to the United
States of America to the political subdivision wherein the land 18
situated upon abandonment or cessation of purpose for which land
was conveyed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. Whenever any land in Virginia has been or is conveyed to the
United States of America with a provision in the deed that upon aban-
donment or use for any purpose other than that stated in the deed such
land shall revert to the Commonwealth of Virginia, and if any such land
is abandoned or is no longer used for the purpose for which con-
veyed, the Governor is hereby authorized to convey to the political sub-
division in which such land is situated, all right, title and interest of the
Commonwealth in and to such land. This act shall not affect any lease
made under Chapter 321 of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred
fifty-two, approved March twelve, nineteen hundred fifty-two.
