CHAPTER 20
An Act to amend Chapter 202 of the Acts of Assembly of 1946, approved
March 23, 1946, which Chapter relates to the construction of a building
to be used by certain State agencies and departments, by adding a
section numbered 8-a, relating to the acquisition by purchase or by
the exercise of the power of eminent domain of real property in con-
nection with the construction, maintenance, convenient use and occu-
pation of such building.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That Chapter 202 of the Acts of Assembly of 1946, approved March
23, 1946, be amended by adding a section numbered 3-a, as follows:
§ 3-a. In addition to the other powers of the Commission, the Com-
mission is further authorized to acquire in the name of the Commonwealth
the real property required for the construction, maintenance, convenient
use and occupation of such building by purchase or in accordance with,
and subject to the provisions of, any and all laws, mutatis mutandis, applic-
able to the condemnation of property in the name of the “State Highway
Commissioner” under the laws of this State and in particular under Article
5 of Chapter 1 of Title 33 of the Code of Virginia and amendments thereto.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
