CHAPTER 11
An Act to amend Chapter 168 of the Acts of Assembly of 1874-75,
approved March 11, 1875, as amended, which provided a charter for
the City of Petersburg, by adding a section numbered 18 in Chapter
IV of such charter, the section relating to the duties, powers and
authority of the collector of city taxes and the collector of delinquent
city taxes.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That Chapter 163 of the Acts of Assembly of 1874-75, approved March
11, 1875, as amended, be amended by adding a section numbered 18 in
Chapter IV thereof as follows:
§ 18. The City Council is hereby authorized to adopt an ordinance
transferring to the collector of city taxes all duties imposed upon, and all
powers and authority vested in, the collector of delinquent city taxes by
this charter, by general law and by ordinances of the city of Petersburg,
and the effect of the adoption of such an ordinance shall be to abolish the
office of the collector of delinquent city taxes; provided, however, the City
Council shall have the further authority to repeal such ordinance and the
effect thereof shall be to reinstate the office of collector of delinquent city
taxes, together with the duties, powers and authority of the said office.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
