CHAPTER 704
An Act to amend and reenact § 38-193 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to the Norfolk County Ferries.

Be it enacted by the General Assemby of Virginia:
1. That § 33-193 of the Code of Virginia, be amended and reenacted
to read as follows:
§ 33-193. The ferries which now ply, by authority of law, between
the cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk and Wellington Point or Berkley,
known as the Norfolk County Ferries, shall continue to run as now au-
thorized by law and shall be the joint and equal property of the city of
Portsmouth and the county of Norfolk, provided that after a tunnel be-
tween Portsmouth and Norfolk has been placed in service the Council of
the city of Portsmouth and the Board of Supervisors of the county of
Norfolk may discontinue such portion of the ferry service as they may
deem unnecessary to operate, and may sell their individual interest, or a
portion thereof, in the ferries to the other owner or to another, with the
consent of the other owner.
