An Act to amend and reenact § 18-288 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to organization of cooperatives.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

Lf That § 13-238 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:

§ 13-238. Any number of persons not less than five may, under
the provisions of chapter 8 of this title, associate themselves together
as a cooperative association, society, company, or exchange, for the pur-
pose of conducting any agricultural, fishing, dairy, mercantile, merchan-
dise, brokerage, manufacturing, or mechanical business on the coopera-
tive plan; provided that the word “cooperative” shall be included as a
part of the name.

The provisions of §§ 18-11 to 18-17, 13-23 to 18-27, 13-39, 13-200 and
13-201 shall apply to cooperative associations created under this section,
except so far as the same are in conflict with the following sections of
this chapter which shall be applicable only to such cooperative associa-
tions.
