CHAPTER 65
An Act to validate a conveyance to G. K. Massie, Jr.
[H 169]
Approved February 18, 1952
Whereas, on June 7, 1948, the Board of Supervisors of Stafford County
conveyed to G. K. Massie, Jr., a strip of land on the east side of U. S. Route
No. 1, near the junction of Brooke Road; the piece or parcel of land con-
taining .04 acres, lying and being adjacent on the north to the land of
Nannie W. Berry, to the east by the land of G. K. Massie, Jr., to the west
by U.S. Highway number 1, and to the south by Brooke Road; and
Whereas, by so conveying the said land to G. K. Massie, Jr., the Board
of Supervisors of Stafford County, exceeded its lawful authority, in that it
had no authority to convey land so as to reduce the Courthouse Square
to less than two acres, which conveyance to G. K. Massie, Jr., did so reduce
the Courthouse Square; now therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: |
1. The conveyance by the Board of Supervisors of Stafford County, dated
June 7, 1948, to G. K. Massie, Jr., the deed signifying same being recorded
in Deed Book 64, Page 227, in the clerk’s office of the circuit court of
Stafford County, is hereby validated.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from passage.
