An Act to amend and reenact § 674, as amended, of the Code of Virginia
of 1919, which was continued in effect by § 22-188 of the Code of
Virginia of 1950, relating to validation of bonds of counties and
school districts.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1, That § 674, as amended, of the Code of Virginia of 1919, which was
continued in effect by § 22-188 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, be
amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 22-188. All elections heretofore held in any county and/or school
district of the State to provide for the issuance of bonds, for the purpose
of building, rebuilding, expanding or otherwise permanently improving
the school buildings of the county or district, or for original equipment
therefor, be, and the same are hereby validated, ratified, approved and
confirmed, notwithstanding the fact that the proceedings and ballots pro-
vided for the issuance of bonds in amounts in excess of the amounts
prescribed in the petitions requesting the issuance of bonds and notwith-
standing any defect or irregularity in the calling or holding of such
elections, or in the petitions or resolutions presented to the circuit court
for the holding of such elections, or the proceedings, or in the order of the
court ordering or confirming same, and any bonds issued or to be issued
pursuant thereto, be, and the same are hereby validated, approved and
confirmed, and such bonds are hereby declared to be the valid and binding
obligations of the county or school district authorizing the issuance of
such bonds; provided, that this act shall not repeal or affect any special
or local act validating any bond issues.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
