[H 525]
Approved March 31, 1952
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. (1) Any former teachers who were retired under the provi-
sions of Chapter 36 of the Code of 1919 as it existed immediately prior

the provisions of the repealed Virginia Retirement Act with thirty or
more years of service in case of service retirement or twenty or more
years of service in case of disability retirement shall be entitled to and
shall receive a retirement allowance in an amount which, when added to
the annual retirement allowance otherwise payable, shall be not less than
six hundred dollars per annum; provided, however, that any retired
teacher or State employee, receiving a retirement allowance under one of
the options of the repealed Virginia Retirement Act which allowance is
less than six hundred dollars per annum, shall receive an increase in such
allowance proportionate to the increase that such retired person woul
have received as above provided on a straight life annuity as set forth in
such repealed Virginia Retirement Act; provided, further, that the bene-
ficiary of any retired teacher or State employee receiving an allowance
at the time this act becomes effective or subsequent thereto shall receive
a proportionate increase in such allowance equivalent to the increase that
the grantor of such allowance would have received under the next preced-
ing proviso. |
29. The additional sums required to carry out the provisions of this act
for the biennium beginning July one, nineteen hundred fifty-two, by
reason of the minimum allowance of six hundred dollars per annum as
hereinabove provided, are hereby appropriated out of the general fund
of the State treasury to Trust Fund “B” established by Chapter 1, of
the Acts of Assembly nineteen hundred fifty-two, that is to say, for the
