AN ACT to amend and reenact § 46-138 of the Code of 1950 80 as
to place upon the State Corporation Commission the duty of
furnishing appropriately designated tags or markers for prop-
‘erty-carrying vehicles for hire, and relieving the Commissioner
of the Division of Motor Vehicles of the responsibility of so
doing.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 46-138 of the Code of 1950 be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 46-138. Issuance of registration plates or markers.—It shall
be the duty of the * Commission to furnish * each person who
holds himself out to transport passengers or property for rent or
for hire, or who should operate under certificate, permit or eremp-
tion card issued by the Commission or under certificate or permit
issued by the Interstate Commerce. Commission and iho has been
issucd a license tag by the Division of Motor Vehicles, with a dis-
tinguishing plate or marker for each vehicle operated or to be
operated which, in addition to other matters by law provided *
Shall te placed and remain on such vehicle as required and pre-
scribed by the Commission. The said plate or marker shall remain
the property of the Commission and shall be subject to revocation,
cancellation or repossession by the Commission if improperly or
unlawfully used or if used in violation of any applicable rules and
regulations of the Commission.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
