CHAPTER 275
AN ACT for the relief of T. H. Lillard.
Approved April 4, 1950
Whereas, the State Department of Highways changed a
portion of the course of the Rapidan River in Madison County
and subsequent thereto, in April, 1949, during a heavy rain the
river, due to the change of course, flooded the property of T. H.
Lillard, washing away his private bridge and destroying one
acre of valuable lowlands; and
Whereas, the State Highway Department and T. H. Lil-
lard have agreed as to the damages caused by the act of the
Department in changing the course of the river, such damage
amounting to fifteen hundred dollars; Now, Therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. There is hereby appropriated out of the funds in the State
treasury available for the construction and maintenance of the
secondary highway system of Madison County the sum of fifteen
hundred dollars for the relief of T. H. Lillard, and the Comp-
troller is directed to draw his warrant on the State Treasurer
for such amount payable to T. H. Lillard, and the State Treas-
urer shall pay the same as provided by law.
The amount to be paid herein shall be in lieu of any and
all claims that T. H. Lillard, his heirs, successors, or assigns,
ever had, now have, or ever shall have as a result of this change
in course of the Rapidan River in Madison County. The said
T. H. Lillard to execute a full release and satisfaction for all
claims hereunder.
