Chap. 277.—An ACT Authorking the Trustees of the First Methodist
Episcopal Church of Richmond, Virginia, to Execute Deeds of Trust.

Whereas, it is represented that the First Methodist Episco-
pal Church and congregation at Richmond, Virginia, for the
purpose of erecting a new and suitable house of worship, have
contracted a debt, and that they are desirous of securing the
same: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the legally constituted trustees of said
church and congregation to execute one or more deeds of trust
upon all the real estate belonging to said church and congre-
gation, or parts thereof, for the purposes aforesaid, and none
other ; which deed or deeds shall be as effectual as if executed
by an individual, and except as may be therein otherwise pro-
vided, shall be subject to the provisions of chapter one hun-
dred and seventeen of Code of Virginia of eighteen hundred
and sixty.
2. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
