Chap. 273.—An ACT to Authorize the Trustees of the Parsonage Pro-
perty for Atlantic Circuit, Methodist Epistopal Church South, to sell
the same. .
Approved March 28, 1878.
Whereas, it is represented that there is a large debt due to the
trustees of the parsonage property for Atlantic Circuit Methodist
Episcopal Church South, on account of the said premises,
and that itis desired by the preacher or pastor residing in
and on the aforesaid premises, and by the said trustees, to sell
the same: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful for William J. Bayly, Joseph E. Broadwater and others,
trustees, to whom the property known as the parsonage pro-
perty for Atlantic Circuit of the Methodist Episcopal Church
South, conveyed by William Pettit and wife, by deed bearing
date the twenty-seventh day of April, A. D. eighteen hundred
and sixty-seven, and of record in Accomac county court clerk’s
office, for the purposes aforesaid, are authorized to make sale of
the same, either at public auction or by private contract, and
to execute a deed of bargain and sale for the same; which deed
shall be as effectual to pass the title, in fee simple, as if exe-
cuted by an individual.
2. That the purchase money shall be first appropriated to
the payment of the debts due the trustees, and the balance
shall be deposited in the hands of the stewards of said circuit,
to be disposed of by them as provided by the deed aforesaid
from William Pettit and wife.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
