Chap. 196.—Au ACT authorizing a Majority of the Living Trustees of
the Baptist Church and Congregation at Orange Courthouse, Virginia,
to Sell and execute a Deed to the Lot in the Village of Orange Court-
house upon which their Church formerly stood, and to Apply the Pur-
chase Money in the Erection of a New House of Worship.

Whereas, it is represented that the Baptist church and con-
gregation at Orange Courthouse, for the purpose of erecting a
house of worship, desire selling the lot in the village of Orange
Courthouse upon which their former house of worship stood,
and to execute a proper and valid deed of the same: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for a majority of the living legally constituted
trustees of said church and congregation to sell said lot for the
purpose aforesaid, and to execute one or more deeds to the
purchaser of the same, which deed or deeds shall be as effectual
as if executed by an individual, and, except as therein otherwise
provided, shall be subject to the provisions of chapter one hun-
dred and seventeen of the Code of Virginia (edition of eighteen
hundred and sixty).
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
