Chap. 187.—An ACT to Amend the ist Section of Chapter 115 of the
Code of Virginia (edition of 1860), as Amended by Chapter 203 of an
Act passed February 16th, 1867, in Relation to Aliens.
Approved March 19, 1878.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section one of chapter one hundred and fifteen of the Code of
Virginia (edition of eighteen hundred and sixty), as amended
by chapter two hundred and three of an act passed February
sixteenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, shall be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 1. Any alien not a public enemy may acquire, hold and
dispose of real estate within this state, and the same shall
pass by devise or descent in like manner as if he were a
citizen.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
