Chap. 52.—An ACT to amend Chapter 11 of the Acts of Assembly of 1947
(Extra Session), approved January 29, 1947, providing a new charter for
the town of Phoebus in Elizabeth City County, by adding a new section
numbered 4-b, changing the office and title of the town sergeant to the office
and title of chief of police. [H 64]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That chapter eleven of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen
hundred forty-seven (Extra Session) approved January twenty-
nine, nineteen hundred forty-seven, be amended by adding a new
section numbered four-b as follows:

Section 4+-b. Chief of police—On and after the effective date
of this amendment the office and title of town sergeant shall be
changed to the office and title of chief of police, and wherever the
words “town sergeant” appear in this chapter they shall be
construed and applied as if they were the words “chiet of police”.
