Chap. 161.—An ACT to Amend an Act passed February 19th, 1861, enti-
tled an Act to Incorporate St. Paul’s Church Home.
Approved March 12, 1873.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That.
the fourth section of an act passed February nineteenth, eigh-
teen hundred and sixty-one, entitled an act to incorporate St.
Paul’s Church Home, be amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows:
§ 4. If such child have neither parent nor guardian, or if
the parent or parents of such child shall have neglected and
abandoned him, the said corporation may acquire the control
aforesaid, by exhibiting to the hustings or chancery court of
the city of Richmond an indenture, sealed with the seal of the
corporation, and binding it to do for such child whatever may
be required by this act to be done for the children coming
within its purview; and if such indenture be in proper form,
the said court shall order it to be recorded in the clerk’s office
of the chancery court; and thereupon the power and control
of the said corporation over such child shall commence.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
